Education and Experience
Doctor Turner completed her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia, and has always had an interest in the human sciences. Her psychology major sparked the interest in counseling and sexology. In her 4th year of school, she took a course in Human Sexuality and it changed her life. Learning about sex beyond birth control and contraceptive issues was fascinating! After graduating in 2005 from UBC, Dr. Turner furthered her education with the addition of some counseling courses at UBC.
In 2008, Dr. Turner started her post-graduate education at the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. This program challenged Dr. Turner to think about sexuality as a life long journey, and to understand how her clients would feel going through this journey. The Institute also challenged her to expand her knowledge of sexuality and embrace a sex positive and non-judgmental attitude toward all aspects of sexuality. In addition to earning a Doctorate in Human Sexuality, she has also obtained a Associate in Sex Education and a Clinical Sexology Certificate.
While going to school, Dr. Turner also worked for Options for Sexual Health, first as a volunteer, and then as staff. Her experience with OPT helped her to gain much insight into client care, workshop facilitation, and additional sexual health knowledge.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Turner is an avid sports fan, and enjoys watching hockey, football and tennis. She enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, Justin, as they decorate and accessorize their new home.
